Keynote: Smart Manufacturing – Sustainable and digital!
In today's dynamic automotive industry, characterized by rapid technological advances, changing consumer demands, challenging supply chains and environmental imperatives, all stakeholders - OEMs, start-ups, and suppliers alike - are facing great challenges. These challenges require a holistic transformation of the very fabric of automotive manufacturing.
To remain competitive in this ever-evolving landscape, manufacturers must adopt a strategic mindset that recognizes the imperative of achieving higher levels of production flexibility, efficiency, quality, and sustainability. Incremental change is not enough; a comprehensive overhaul is essential to thrive in this new normal.
The key question then becomes: How can manufacturers achieve this transformation in their operations and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality products within tight timeframes?
The answer lies in embracing the principles of Smart Manufacturing, underpinned by adaptability, sustainability, digitalization, and resilience.
By using Smart Manufacturing, manufacturers gain the ability to virtually plan and validate every aspect of their production processes, from individual work cells to entire plants. This ensures that the initial design is always optimized, minimizing the need for costly revisions down the line.
Moreover, Smart Manufacturing enable manufacturers to swiftly adapt to changing market dynamics, facilitating seamless ramp-ups following new product launches or line changeovers. This agility mitigates the risk of costly downtime, ensuring uninterrupted production cycles.
In essence, Siemens Smart Manufacturing solutions offer a transformative pathway for automotive manufacturers to thrive in an era defined by disruption and change.

Focus on people in the smart factory: AI-supported shift planning in real time
The shortage of skilled workers is already a significant factor for the productivity of industrial companies today and will become even more so in the coming years. shyftplan optimizes the complex shift planning of industrial companies in order to deploy existing employees optimally and at the same time increase employee satisfaction and loyalty. By uniquely automating previously time-consuming scheduling tasks, shyftplan allows employees to focus on productive aspects of their work.
To do this, the AI analyzes complex data patterns and creates suggestions for optimal shift plans. Up to 23 factors such as employee preferences, qualifications and availability are taken into account to ensure fair and balanced working hours. The result is better decisions in favor of profitability and employee retention.

More efficient production: Predictive maintenance thanks to explainable AI decisions
Unplanned downtime of production equipment reduces profits. The use of predictive maintenance with AI is a successful strategy for reducing downtime and material costs, extending equipment life, and protecting investments. Industrial AI tool sets that also support the use of low-cost IoT sensor technology eliminate the need for large investments in expensive sensor technology and ensure faster ROI. Effective predictive analytics requires expertise in the selection of the ideal sensor technology, the process of data collection during monitoring, labeling and handling large amounts of data, as well as advanced analysis techniques and tools. We present methodologies and tool sets that support the decision of what maintenance is really needed and provide decision support that is easy to understand even for non-AI experts, providing confidence in the use of AI solutions.
